Mrs. Lorene Burkett Thompson

Mrs. Lorene Burkett Thompson, age 100, of Thomaston, died Sunday, August 25, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson will be held Thursday, August 29, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Ted Kandler will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home  Thursday morning from 10:00 until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Laurens County on February 23, 1924, to the late George Dewey McDaniel and the late Maybel Walls McDaniel. She retired from B. F. Goodrich Martha Mills in May of 1983. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Jeff Davis Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husbands, Aldine Burkett and Rev. Phillip Thompson, and her son, Edward Burkett. She is survived by two sons: Gary Burkett of Thomaston and Glenn Burkett of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; her granddaughter, Leslie (Trey) Carter of Marietta; and her great grandson, Bradley Carter. A close friend, Fay Cleveland, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank Gloria Price, Barbara Alford, Bernice Holt, Mary Walker, Shirley Manuel, and Regina Mack for their kindness and care shown to our mother during the past six months..
