Mrs. Margaret Caroline New Dunlap

Mrs. Margaret Caroline New Dunlap, age 71, of Cataula, GA, died Sunday, February 5, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Dunlap will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Bennett will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Dunlap was born in Thomaston, GA, on September 14, 1951, the second of six daughters of the late William Madison New and the late Anne Gilmore New. She was a 1969 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Lee High Singers. Caroline loved to play the piano and developed her love for music. She earned a BS degree from West Georgia College where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Mrs. Dunlap was employed for 23 years by Total Systems Services, Inc., of Columbus, GA, and she was a part of the original Georgia Quick Start program. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and she found joy in her many pets and in gardening.

Mrs. Dunlap is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Dunlap and Christy Dunlap (David) Riddle; two granddaughters, Kayla and Erin Riddle; and five sisters: Dianne New (Fred) Quarles, Patricia New (Steve) Turner, Nedra New (Vince) Musashe, Ginny New Dean, and Marijo New Lucas. Seven nieces and nephews also survive.
