Mrs. Margie Jacquelyn Meredith Cassidy, 78, of Thomaston, died Thursday, August 13th, 2015 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Cassidy will be held on Sunday, August 16th, 2015 at 4 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Cassidy's family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 pm until the funeral hour. Mrs. Cassidy was born in Titusville, Florida on January 9th, 1937 a daughter of the late Otis Meredith and Margie Geneva Wrye Meredith. She moved to Pike County as a child and was a graduate of Zebulon High School. Mrs. Cassidy was employed by the Georgia Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicles Division, in Atlanta and later worked until her retirement for the City of Atlanta, where she served as a receptionist for the late Mayor Maynard Jackson. Upon her retirement in 1994 she moved to Thomaston. Mrs. Cassidy attended the Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne (James) Peoples and Connie (Bill) Hooper, both of Thomaston; a brother, Otis Meredith of Butler; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Cassidy, a son, Jimmy Ralph Gross, a sister, Elizabeth Wright, and a brother, James Edward McDaniel.
