Mrs. Margie Rogers Wilson

Mrs. Margie Rogers Wilson, 98, of Tyrone, GA, and formerly of Thomaston, died Thursday, March 24, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 2:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. Rev. Andy Cunningham and Rev. Gary Boyd will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. A celebration of life service will be held in Tyrone at a later date. Mrs. Wilson was born in Thomaston on October 16, 1923, to the late Jesse Howell Rogers and Lorena Gordy Rogers. She was a 1940 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and earned a Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southwestern College in 1969, the same year her daughter Donna graduated from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Wilson was retired from the Thomaston City Schools where she taught business courses at R. E. Lee Institute for more than twenty years. She was an avid golfer at the Thomaston Country Club, and she later joined the Hilton Head Country Club. She also enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston for sixty-six years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, O. E. Wilson, Jr., and her brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Chessie Rogers. Mrs. Wilson is survived by two daughters: Donna (Steve) Duke and Cindy Wilson, both of Tyrone, GA; a son, Odie E. (Susan) Wilson, III of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren: Melissa Gray, Jenna (Eugene) Bishop, and Odie (Katherine) Wilson, IV, and five great grandchildren: Kailee Bellew, Karoline Bellew, Kaden Bellew, Kingsley Bishop, and Tytus Bishop.
