Mrs. Margie Smith Lussi, 85, of Thomaston, died Monday, February 20th, 2017 at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mrs. Lussi will be held on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Chaplain Emory Lussi, Lt. Cdr., USN, and Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Yatesville. The family of Mrs. Smith will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Mrs. Lussi was born in Thomaston on December 7th, 1931, a daughter of the late George Edward Smith and Mary Roquemore Colquitt. She was a 1950 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Lussi lived in Montgomery, AL., for 40 years. She worked as a church secretary for many years. She was a member of the Lake View Baptist Church in Montgomery and sang in the choir. Mrs. Lussi enjoyed making baskets and arts and crafts. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Ernest (Geraldine) Walker of Thomaston, brother-in law, Mr. Lamar (Shirley) Lussi of Snellville, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church, 9225 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36117. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
