Mrs. Marsha Roland Tarrer

August 24, 1944 — July 15, 2024

Marsha Roland Tarrer, age 79, passed away on July 15, 2024, at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Marsha was born in Thomaston, Georgia on August 24, 1944, to the late Azalee Thompson Roland and Pratt “Bud” Roland of Thomaston. She was preceded in death by her older sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Charles Brooks, and her nephew William Keith “Abac” Davenport.

Marsha was a 1962 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute, where she met Harold Madison Tarrer. They married on December 16, 1966. Marsha and Harold were devoted to each other for 57 years of marriage. Throughout her life, Marsha set an immaculate example for what it means to be a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

In addition to playing an irreplaceable role in her family, Marsha was also truly talented. She was a skilled hairdresser and managed a beauty salon in Thomaston for years. After she decided to become a full-time homemaker, she exhibited her culinary skills and her talents as a gardener and watercolorist. She loved children and dogs.

Marsha was a devout Christian and an active member of Hope of the Generations Church. As a believer, she volunteered as a children’s Sunday school and training union teacher as well as a leader of Girls in Action and Acteens. She lived life according to her values.

Marsha leaves behind a legacy of gentle love. She was humble, wise, caring, and possessed a quick-witted sense of humor that was saturated with hopeful optimism. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Tarrer Jordan, son in law, William Lee Jordan, her grandsons, Joseph Thomas (J.Thomas) Perdue Jr. and William Coleman Jordan, and the love of her life, Harold Madison Tarrer.

The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day funeral home on Thursday, July 18th from 4-6pm. The family plans for a private celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Eternal Hope Hospice or the University of Georgia Foundation.
