Mrs. Martha Turner Grant, 94, of Hoschton, GA, died Monday, February 13, 2016, at Autumn Leaves of Sugarloaf. Funeral services for Mrs. Grant will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, GA., with the Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Burial will be at South View Cemetery in Thomaston, GA, at 4:00 PM. Mrs. Grant, daughter of the late Errett Emory Turner, Sr. and Jessie Lee Hamilton Turner, was born October 19, 1922, in Griffin, GA. She was a 1939 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and she worked in the Office of the Registrar at Georgia Institute of Technology until her retirement in 1985, after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Atlanta, GA, First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, GA, and Blackshear Place Baptist Church of Oakwood, GA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grant was predeceased by her husband, William Bayard Grant, two brothers: Emory and Jimmy Turner, and three sisters: Janie Turner, Melba Turner Harrison, and Bobbie Turner Lockhart. Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Grant (Ron) Harris of Hoschton, GA; two grandsons, Dustin (Amy) and Brent Harris; and two great grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge with profound gratitude the love and support provided over the last few years by Martha's dear friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed by all.
