Mrs. Mary Frances Sapp Montgomery

Mrs. Mary Frances Sapp Montgomery, age 89, of Thomaston, died Saturday, January 13, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Montgomery will be held Monday, January 15, at 2:00 PM, at East Thomaston Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Smith and Rev. Dean Hemphill will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, January 14, from 7:00 until 9:00 at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Mrs. Montgomery was born in Laurens County, GA, on December 15, 1934, to the late John W. Sapp and the late Mary Fennell Sapp. She was a retired sales associate with Belk of Thomaston. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU member, and choir member. She loved people, liked to laugh a lot, and to tell people about Jesus. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and playing Rummikub with her friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Earl Montgomery; a sister, Peggy Sapp Moore; and a brother, John Wallace Sapp.

Survivors include her children: Teresa (Ray) Bartlett, Tod A. (Teri) Montgomery, and Traci (Keith) Snidemiller, all of Thomaston; a sister, Sandra Sapp of Thomaston; eight grandchildren: Jarrod (Marisa) Bartlett of Thomaston, LaRae (Andrew) Roberson of Thomaston, Desire' Montgomery of Ocala, FL, Bethany Montgomery of Locust Grove, Tanner Montgomery of Thomaston, Jenna (Dillon) Smith of Thomaston, Carly (John) Hosch of Thomaston, and Maddi (Kalen) Puckett of Thomaston; seven great grandchildren: Tristen Boyt, Alaina Bartlett, Lathen Montgomery, Emma Jane Hosch, Rhett Smith, Gentry Bryant, Burkelyn Roberson, and another due in February, Wilder Wood Hosch. Many nieces and nephews survive along with two special friends, Joan McCrary and Cynthia Brown.
