Mrs. Mary Sabra Truitt

Mrs. Mary Sabra Truitt, age 70, of Thomaston, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Funeral services for Mrs. Truitt will be held Wednesday, September 27, at 2:00 PM at East Thomaston Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Smith will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Truitt was born in Thomaston on July 21, 1953, to Mary Elizabeth Clark Spires and the late Alvin Guin Spires. She was a 1971 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Truitt earned a BS degree in Education from Tift College and a Masters degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern College. She was retired from the Thomaston-Upson School System where she taught middle school mathematics for many years. Mrs. Truitt was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary and a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Clark Spires. Survivors include her husband of over 51 years, Dennis Truitt of Thomaston; one daughter, Tiffany (Clint) Fisher of Suwanee, GA; two sons: Jeff (Rachael) Truitt of Cedartown, GA, and Nathan (Kristin) Truitt of Thomaston; her mother, Mary Elizabeth Clark Spires of Thomaston; five grandchildren: Marianne Truitt, Davis Truitt, Jace Fisher, Ella Fisher, and Anna Fisher; two step grandchildren: Laurel (Adrian) Stehouwer and Preston Slagle; and one step great grandchild, Rhett Stehouwer.
