Mrs. Melissa Joy Salter, age 47, of Thomaston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Melissa Joy Salter will be held Wednesday, May 19, at 2:00 PM, at Northside Baptist Church. Pastor Jereme Chaney will officiate and interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Melissa was born on March 29, 1974, in Griffin, a daughter of Ronnie Salter and the late Judith LaRose Smith Reedy. She was a 1992 graduate of Upson-Lee High School and later obtained her associates degree from Flint Technical College in Cosmetology. She was self employed as a Cosmetologist. In her later years, Melissa developed a deep devotion for others. She was a very caring and giving person. She loved horses and going to the beach. Melissa was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church. Melissa leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Justin Tyme Fleming of Thomaston; and her father, Ronnie H. (Debbie Sasser) Salter of Lynn Haven, FL. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her son Jaythan Clinton Fleming and her brother Chadwick Henderson Salter. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
