Mrs. Mildred Cox "Mickey" Richards

Mrs. Mildred Cox 'Mickey' Richards of Weatherford, TX and formerly of Molena, died Friday, June 3rd, 2016 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Richards will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Molena. Rev. Mark Harris and Rev. Billy Lawrence will officiate and burial will follow in the Mount Olive Church Cemetery. Mrs. Richards was born Edna Mildred Cox on September 7, 1925 in Molena to Henry Arthur (H.A.) Cox and Sally Lena Cox-Cox. She graduated from High School in Molena and attended Georgia Business College in Atlanta. She worked at Sears-Roebuck in Atlanta before marrying Ted Richards, Sr. in 1945. She and her husband moved to Weatherford, TX in 1947, after Ted’s overseas duty in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne. Mrs. Richards was a long-time member of both North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford, TX and Mount Olive Baptist Church in Molena. While living in Brock, TX for 15 years, she was a member of Brock Baptist Church. Mickey retired from North Side Baptist Church, in Weatherford in 1986 after working there as a church secretary for 30 years. She worked for 5 different preachers in those 30 years. After she and Ted retired, they moved back to Molena in 1986, before returning to live in Weatherford, TX in 2004. Mrs. Richards is survived by her sister, Mary Johnson of Zebulon; her children, Nan Richards Hardee of Weatherford, TX, Ted Richards, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann of Houston, TX, Terry Richards of Weatherford, TX, and foster son, Chung Van Huynh and wife, Thoia of Atlanta. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her parents, Henry (H.A.) and Sally Cox of Molena, and 5 siblings; her husband, Ted Richards, Sr. of Weatherford, TX; her daughters, Beth Ann Richards of Weatherford, Texas and Sally Richards Pelosi of Columbus, GA. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
