Mrs. Miriam Mallory Granitz, 92, of Monroe and formerly of Thomaston, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Mrs. Granitz was born in Thomaston on January 1, 1923, a daughter of the late George Mallory and Clara Mae Ferguson Mallory. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College and State University). She lived for many years in Powder Springs and was employed as a dietician at Northside Hospital, Piedmont Hospital, and Kennestone Hospital. After her retirement Mrs. Granitz moved to Greensboro where she spent the best years of her life. She made a lot of great friends in Greensboro and participated in various clubs and activities in the area. She enjoyed having her grandchildren close by and spent many wonderful hours visiting with friends and family. She loved gardening, fishing, cooking and spending time in the mountains and by the ocean and family gatherings. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Johnny) Paul of Monroe; two sons, Fred (Wanda) Granitz of Meansville and Mallory (Karen) Granitz of Siloam; five grandchildren, Ben Granitz, Halley Granitz, Hannah Granitz, Jessie Janes and Ginny White; and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Mallory, Frank Mallory and Fred Mallory. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Granitz will be held on Friday, September 4th, 2015 in South View Cemetery with Rev. Hugh Johnson officiating.
