Mrs. Nellie M. Moore

Mrs. Nellie M. Moore, age 94, of Thomaston, Georgia, died Friday morning in Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Marshall Clay McMichael and Mattie Lou Boles McMichael. She had lived in Thomaston since 1928 and was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute class of 1937. Mrs. Moore worked for forty-two years as a Lab Technician in the Bleachery Division of Thomaston Mills, and retired in 1992 at the age of seventy-two. Mrs. Moore joined First United Methodist Church as a child. During her eighty-three year membership, she taught Sunday School, MYF, and had the honor of being one on the first two ladies to serve on the Administrative Board of the church. As a volunteer with the Upson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, she was a Pink Lady and worked in the Gift Shop, Mrs. Moore was also a member of the AARP and the Thomaston-Upson Historical Society. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her daughter, Doty Sims. Survivors are, her son Michael (Lisa) Moore, of Snellville, Georgia; son-in-law, Doug Sims, of Buford, Georgia; grandchildren, Stacy (Brad) Padgett, Shannon (Kerry) Skelton, Ryan (fiancee, Leigh Huntley) Moore, Austin (Emily) Moore, , , great grandchildren, Kadie Skelton, Caleb Padgett, Mary Grace Moore, Clay Padgett, Lily Moore, and Lucy Moore. Funeral Services for Mrs. Moore will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery. Rev. Herb Flanders will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1 PM until 2 PM prior to the service.
