Mrs. Peggy Middlebrooks Cleveland

Mrs. Peggy Middlebrooks Cleveland, age 85, of Thomaston, died Saturday, April 12, 2025, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cleveland will be held Monday, April 14, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Weeks will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Cleveland was born on March 27, 1940, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to the late Grady Middlebrooks and the late Sara Tiller Wainwright. She was a 1957 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and she was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where she was an Administrative Assistant Level III. Mrs. Cleveland loved to travel and organized many trips. She also enjoyed planting flowers and cooking, and she was very friends and family oriented. She always made sure that everyone who came to her home at Christmas had a gift. Mrs. Cleveland was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and in various other capacities.

Mrs. Cleveland is survived by two daughters: Regina (Jimbo) Lee of Stockbridge, and Kristi (Keith) Griffin, of Thomaston; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Colon, Stephanie Wright, Kevin Lee, Kelli Fulkerson, Kim Mangham, Adam Toomey, and Amber Toomey; many great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cleveland was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Howard Cleveland; two daughters, Angela McCullough and Vickie Lynn Toomey; a granddaughter, Alisha Sullivan; and three siblings: Harris Middlebrooks, JoAnn Stephens, and Betty Jean Adams.
