Mrs. Ramona Thigpen Ellington, 78, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ellington will be held on Saturday, January 16, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Pastor Jereme Chaney will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Friday evening, January 15, from 6:00 -8:00 PM. Mrs. Ellington was born in Thomaston on September 19, 1942, to the late Dwight L. and Hazel Cawthon Thigpen. She was a 1960 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Ellington was a Hairdresser at Doorway to Beauty and had been previously employed by the William Carter Company. Mrs. Ellington was a member of Northside Baptist Church where she taught the women's Sunday School class and served as church clerk for five years. She was also a member of the Gospel Sounds. Mrs. Ellington loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ellington was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lamar Ellington, a sister, June T. Wheeless, and two nieces, Robin and April Thigpen. Survivors include a nephew, Doug Wheeless of Thomaston; two nieces: Cherie (Billy) Blount of Thomaston, and Tracy Thigpen of Gay, GA; a nephew, Robert Thigpen of Fayetteville. GA; a brother, James D. Thigpen of Fayetteville, GA; two great nephews, Tanner and Connor Blount, both of Thomaston. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
