Mrs. Ruby Ione Riggins Teal, 90, of Thomaston, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at her residence. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Teal will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 11:30 AM, at Hendricks Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jereme Chaney officiating. The family will receive guests at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Mrs. Teal was born May 5, 1932, in Molena, GA, to the late Horace Jackson Riggins and Ever Lou Sanders Riggins. She worked for Martha Mills and the William Carter Company. She sang for over twenty years with the group, Faithful Servants. Mrs. Teal was known for blowing a glorious train whistle while singing "This Train is Bound for Glory". She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Teal is survived by her daughter, Joyce Fuller , and her son, Ronnie (Joy) Teal, both of Thomaston; a sister, Ever Jane Ash of Woodbury; a brother, Marvin H. Riggins of Thomaston; nine grandchildren: Gene Phillips, Audrey (John) Phillips, Patti (Ray) Holley, Michael Teal, Wendy (Lenny) Retherford, Darrell (Dyeanna) Fuller, Amanda Montgomery, Ryan Teal, and Shane McCall; nineteen great grandchildren: Nicholas (Nicole) Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Bridget Hamlin, Rose (Willie) Sellers, JonJon McKinney, Kirstie (Dustin) Golden, Keyanna (Demarkess) Wilcox , Chance (Valeria) Holley, Kayelee Holley, Lauren (Sam) Billings, Courtney (Josh) Linscheid, Johnathon Cox, Kirsten (Chris) Paladino, Justin Retherford, Wesley Fuller, Kristen Wilson, Taylor WIlson, Brodie Montgomery and Adein Montgomery; and thirteen great greatgrandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Arnold Teal; daughters, Ruby Jo Phillips Jones and Cathy Ione Teal; sons, Dennis Arnold Teal and James Bennett Teal; two sisters, Mary Lou Morgan and Lilla Mae Fogarty; brother, Josh Riggins, and one grandchild, Robert Monroe Pilkenton III.
