Mrs. Ruby Shepard Brown, 85, of Blairsville and formerly of Thomaston, died Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. Mrs. Brown was born on November 12, 1929, a daughter of the late James Shepard and Linnie Thompson Shepard. She was formerly a bookkeeper in the Food Services Division for Upson County Board of Education. Mrs. Brown and her husband, the late Wallace Brown, moved to Blairsville in 2007. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville and a former member of the Valley Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and watching the Atlanta Braves on television. Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Rev. Bob) Crowe of Blairsville, and her son, Richard (Lynn) Brown of Birmingham, AL; three brothers, Frank (Laverne) Shepard and James (Jeanette) Shepard, both of Thomaston and Alfred (Dorothy) Shepard of Warner Robins; five grandchildren, Robert Crowe, Kenneth Crowe, Scott Brown, Lydia Brown and Erin Brown; and four great grandchildren, Ethan Crowe, Matthew Crowe, Clara Crowe and Dillon Crowe. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown were held on Friday, March 27th, 2015 at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Bob Crowe officiated and burial followed in South View Cemetery. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
