Mrs. Sandra June Smith

Mrs. Sandra June Smith, 70, of Thomaston, GA, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Monday, July 24, 2017, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Dr. Keith Paige will officiate, and burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from noon until 2:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late James Elbert Rowell, Sr. and Melba June Turner Rowell, was born December 21, 1946, in Thomaston. She had been employed in the sewing room of the Thomaston Mills Bleachery Division. She was a member of the Cherokee Rose Quilt Guild and the Molena Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher. Survivors include her husband, Danny K. Smith of Thomaston; two daughters: Kayla McDermitt (Kenny) of Carrollton, GA, and Cassandra June 'Cassie' Franklin (Jeff) of Thomaston, GA; two brothers: Jimmy Williams of Shelbyville, TN, and James E. Rowell, Jr. (Butch), of Apalachicola, FL; two step sons: Todd Michael Smith of Thomaston and Sam Phillip Smith (Amanda) of Meridian, ID; fourteen grandchildren: Kevin McDermitt, Ty McDermitt, Mary Beth McDermitt, Jonathan McDermitt, Andrew McDermitt, Lillyanna June McDermitt, Benjamin McDermitt, Joseph McDermitt, Sara Kate McDermitt, and Shepard McDermitt, all of Carrollton, GA; Austin Franklin, Nash Franklin, and Bree Franklin, all of Thomaston, GA,; and Nathan Smith of Meridian, ID.
