Mrs. Shirley Long Stephens Johnson

Mrs. Shirley Long Stephens Johnson, age 84, of Thomaston, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at her residence.

Graveside services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM, at South View Cemetery with Rev. Jason Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, September 27, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Shirley was born on August 4, 1938, in Thomaston, Georgia. Shirley worked at William Carter Company for 50+ years retiring as a Training Supervisor. She was a talented seamstress and loved woodworking. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she loved teaching Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Myra Boyt and Starlynn (Mike) Shannon, sister Kathryn Eggleton, and brothers Henry (Linda) Long and Stanley (LaFaye) Long, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the ultimate GG to seven grandchildren, their families and twelve great grandchildren, Kristen Slaton (children Makenzi and Kaleb), Tim Richards and Brittney McElhenney, Jamey and Chelsea McElhenney (children Riley, Kayden, Tucker, and Jackson), Ashton and Jennifer McElhenney (children Asher and Ace), Stephen and Hayden Sample (children Haeleigh and Swayzie), Cody Boyt (child Tucker), and Cody and Ashley Ledbetter (child Oaklyn).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Holmes E. Long and Garnett Pitts Long, her first husband, Hobson Lane Stephens, Jr., her second husband, Harvey Eugene Johnson, her brother, Edmond Long, and her son-in-law, Keith Boyt.
