Mrs. Sybil Blakely Bennett, 82, of Thomaston, died Sunday, February 7, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Bennett was born in Upson County on April 16, 1938, a daughter of the late J. D. Harold Blakely and Lucy Sue Howell Blakely Taunton. She was a graduate of the Grady Nursing School and worked as a registered nurse at Upson Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 2008. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Earl Taunton. Mrs. Bennett is survived by two daughters, April (Jeff) Rogers of Thomaston and DeDe Allen of Guyton; a sister, Bobbie (Doug) Brown of Buford; a brother, Gene Blakely of Marietta; four grandchildren, Holly Rogers and Riane (Seth) Perdue, both of Thomaston, Lex (Danielle) Allen of Guyton, and Haley (Will) Adams of Rincon; and seven great grandchildren. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Private graveside memorial services for family only will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed for friends to watch. Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, PO Box 1300, Thomaston, GA 30286.
