Mrs. Vivian Ramsey Abbott

Mrs. Vivian Ramsey Abbott, age 94, of Thomaston, died Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mrs. Abbott will be held on Monday, March 4, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Joey Smith will officiate, and interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens in Barnesville, GA. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Abbott was born November 14, 1929, in Wynona, West Virginia, to the late Emmett Ramsey and the late Clara McKnight Ramsey. She earned an associates degree from Upson Technical College and was an LPN. For many years she was employed by Dr. Norman P. Gardner. She had also been employed by the Griffin Hospital IV team and local doctors, J. M. Kellum and Stephen Carlan. Mrs. Abbott was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her first husband, William LaFayette McFarlin, Jr., and her second husband, Charles Mitchell Abbott, Sr., and her seven siblings.

Survivors include her children: Donald (Jan) McFarlin of Thomaston; Steve (Cliffie) McFarlin of Perry, GA; Janice (Gordon) Glacken of LaGrange, KY; and Chuck (Karen) Abbott of Tucker, GA.; and a brother, Billy Ramsey of Barnesville, GA.  Seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
