Ms. Alicia Hancock Apfel, age 60, of Miami, died Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Miami.
Services for Ms. Apfel will be private. Interment will take place at South View Cemetery.
Alicia was born in the Warner Robins Air Force Base Hospital, Georgia. She attended the Cushman School and Ransom Everglades School in Miami, and graduated from the Foxcroft School in Virginia. She received her BA from Hampshire College and her JD from Columbia School of Law at Catholic University of America where she was Editor of the Law Review. Alicia became a prominent Civil Rights Attorney in Miami. Her contribution to the community was recognized by a Proclamation issued by the Mayor and Commissioners of Miami Dade County.
She is survived by her parents, Dr. Robert and Kay Hancock Apfel, her brothers, Michael (Meredith) Apfel and Ivan (Ana) Apfel, and nephews, William, Hagan and Alexander.
Those desiring, may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of all arrangements.
