Ms. Caroyln Denise Ballew

Ms. Carolyn Denise Ballew, age 69, passed away at her home in Thomaston on April 13, 2024, after a long illness.

She was born on December 28, 1954, in Griffin, GA to Harold Ray Ballew, Sr. and Sylvia Jean Woodard Ballew. She graduated from Griffin High School and attended Gordon College. She worked in accounting for various businesses in Georgia and Florida for many years. She enjoyed quilt-making, re-finishing furniture, attending estate sales, gardening and watching Law and Order or Fox News. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was of the Christian Faith.

She is preceded in her death by her parents; brothers, Harold Ballew, Jr. and Wesley Ballew; and infant daughter, Laura Colwell. Survivors include her son, David (Christen) Colwell of Thomaston; daughter, Courtney Colwell Gordy of Conyers; step-son, Johnny (Jessi) Colwell of Griffin; and sister, Terri Baxter of Lagrange. Her grandchildren include Taylor Colwell, Cristen Gordy, Caitlin Gordy Hains, Ryan Gordy, Charlie Huff, Mary Elizabeth Huff and Ella Kate Colwell. Five great-grandchildren also survive.

Her family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Brightmoor Hospice and sweet care-giver, Tahisha “Nikki” Bennett.
