Ms. Sylvia Ruffin Crawford, 67, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Ms. Crawford was born on April 14, 1953, in Thomaston, GA, to the late Paul E. and Catherine Hazel Watts Ruffin. She was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and she received an Associate's Degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta. She was a graphic artist and case worker for Creative Community Services where she later retired. She enjoyed art, drawing, and animals, especially horses. She enjoyed helping others, but above all else her favorite role in life was being "Sissy" to her grandchildren. The most important thing in her life was her family whom she loved dearly. Ms. Crawford grew up in Valley Grove Baptist Church, and she later joined Sardis Baptist Church in Jackson, GA. Ms. Crawford is survived by a daughter, Paula Crawford (Scott) Dooley of Concord, GA; two sons: Larry Wayne (Penny) Crawford of Griffin, GA, and Terry (Stephanie) Crawford of Jackson, GA; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Crawford; a daughter-in-law, Tana Crawford; one sister, Jolita Rix of Thomaston, GA; two brothers: Don (Theresa) Ruffin and Steve (Marsha) Ruffin, both of Thomaston, GA; nine grandchildren: Taylor, Brandon, and Blake Dooley; Cheyenne, Samantha, Justin, and Jordan Crawford; and Cassie and Kaitlyn Brown.
