Mrs. Pruett was a native of Cleveland, GA., but grew up in the Brookhaven Community of Atlanta. She was a 1950 graduate of the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. Mrs. Pruett married her husband, James Burns Pruett, Sr., in 1952. After moving to Thomaston Mrs. Pruett was an elementary school teacher in the Thomaston City School System for over 30 years. She was an avid supporter of R. E. Lee Institute and designed the R. E. Lee logo for the school. Mrs. Pruett was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burns Pruett, Sr., in 2004. Mrs. Pruett is survived by her daughter, Allison (Keith) Purser of Brunswick; two sons, Jim Pruett of Thomaston and John (Marie) Pruett of The Rock; and six grandchildren, Joel Purser, Jordan Purser, Jane Anne Purser, Nathan Pruett, Ben Pruett and Olivia Pruett.
