Rev. Raymond R. Howard, 86, of Thomaston, died Thursday, December 3rd, 2015 at Brightmoor Hospice. Funeral services for Rev. Howard will be held on Sunday, December 6th, 2015 at 3 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Bud Gleaton and Dr. Rex King will officiated and burial will follow in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family of Rev. Howard will receive friends at the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Sunday from 1pm until the funeral hour. Rev. Howard was born on April 30, 1929, a son of the late Olin Howard and Ethyl Burden Howard. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Rev. Howard served as the Director of the Department of Family and Children's Services in Lamar County until his retirement in 1991. He was a former pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church in Taylor County and also taught the Builders Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Thomaston for 16 years. Rev. Howard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Bubba White of Zebulon; a brother, Stephen 'Skeeter' Howard of Thomaston; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Gilbert of Thomaston; a brother-in-law, Gene Day of Zebulon; four grandchildren, Oilvia White, Eli White, Ian White and Jay White; and several nieces and nephews.
