The Reverend Stanton Hughes Sizemore, 90, of Thomaston, died Monday, April 1, 2019, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Memorial services for Rev. Sizemore will be held Saturday, May 18, at the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston at 11:00 AM, with Dr. Glenn Gilstrap officaiting. The family of Rev. Sizemore will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday at the church. Mr. Sizemore was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, on December 10, 1928, the son of the late Nathaniel Sizemore, Jr. and Grace Hughes Sizemore. He was a retired Presbyterian minister, a graduate of East Tennessee State University and Fuller Theological Seminary of Pasadena, California. He served churches in Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee. Mr. Sizemore is survived by a daughter, Katherine Sizemore Gilstrap of Thomaston, the wife of Dr. Glenn A. Gilstrap, the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston; and two grandsons, Christopher G. Gilstrap of Los Angeles, California, and Robert S. Gilstrap of Statesboro, Georgia. Other survivors include two sisters, Natalie Sizemore Bailey of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Adair Sizemore Shanks of Nashville, Tennessee; and a brother, Douglas Sizemore of Johnson City, Tennessee, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, his wife, Dorothy Campbell Sizemore, died before him. His brother, Warner Sizemore, died two years ago. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 403 Birdsong Street, Thomaston, GA 30286. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
