Mr. Bridges was born on July 30, 1934, and grew up in Wilkinson County, McIntyre, GA. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War as a cryptographer. Mr. Bridges attended Mercer University and Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University. Mr. Bridges was a member of the State Bar of Georgia for 54 years. He began his legal career in Savannah, GA., before moving to Thomaston where he practiced law for 50 years. Throughout the years Mr. Bridges was devoted to serving others. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. He served his community as a Scout Master for Troop 19, First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Bank of Upson and Southcrest Bank. Mr. Bridges will always be remembered as someone who went above and beyond for his family, his work, his country, and most importantly, his God. Mr. Bridges is survived by his wife of 55 years, Faye Watson Bridges; four children, Russell (Sabrina) Bridges and Dan (Tammy) Bridges, both of Thomaston, Sandy (Glenn) Watson of Forsyth, and Susan (Todd) Hester of Newnan. He leaves eight grandsons, Ben Lumpkin, Zach Bridges, Mason Bridges, Sam Watson, Jack Hester, Beau Watson, Rhett Bridges, and Blake Hester, as well as four granddaughters, Megan Watson, Shelby Bridges, Rachel Bridges and Abby Watson. He also leaves one brother, Al (Janelle) Bridges of Gray and two sisters-in-law, Gayle (Wayne) Hollinger of Atlanta and Phyllis (Marvin, deceased) Watson of Arlington, VA.
