Robert Lee Hammock

Mr. Robert Lee Hammock, 93, of Thomaston, GA, died Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Hammock will be held on Tuesday, January 10, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Dr. Rex King and Rev. Chet Yates will officiate. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Monday evening, January 9, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Mr. Hammock, a son of the late Dennis Edward and Voncille Booth Hammock, was born November 22, 1923, in Taylor County, GA. He was employed with Thomaston Mills for 44 years, where he retired as a shift foreman. He was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church. Mr. Hammock was a part of the Civilian Conservation Corps which was part of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal Plan. He was also a member of the Griffin Moose Club. Mr. Hammock is survived by his wife, Hazel Barfield Hammock of Thomaston; three daughters: Sandra (Murrah) Wainwright, Jan (Marcus) Mitchell, and Caren (Keith) Yates, all of Thomaston; 7 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a sister, Lucile Street of Dacula, GA; three sisters-in-law: Belle Hammock and Marie Hammock, both of Thomaston, and Rosa Lee Hammock of Cumming, GA; and a brother, William Hammock of Ft.
