Mr. Russell Lee Kellett, 85, formerly of Doty Drive, Thomaston, died Wednesday, December 11th, 2012 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Kellett was a native of Summerville, GA., a son of the late John Henry Kellett and Carrie Cochran Kellett. He served his country in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Kellett was employed by Thomaston Mills and retired in 1994 after 22 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was the manager of the Peerless Division. At one point in his career he was the manager of both the Peerless and the Griffin Divisions. Mr. Kellett was active in community affairs in Thomaston and Upson County. He was a past chairman of the Empty Stocking Fund Raising Committee, past president of the Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce and a past president of the Thomaston Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Kellett was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, past president of the Brotherhood, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Committee. He was also a past general chairman of the Textile Operating Executives of Georgia. Mr. Kellett is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Laura Ann 'Cricket' and Ken Latall of Atlanta; sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Pam Kellett of Thomaston and David and Sandra Kellett of Athens; a brother, Earl (Pam) Kellett of Florida; four grandchildren, Bree Kellett (Wayne) Lowry and Ryan Kellett, both of Thomaston, and Maggie Kellett and Annie Kellett of Athens; and three great grandchildren, Dayne Lowry, Jackson Lee Lowry and Emilia Lowry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily White Kellett.
