Sfc (Ret) Raymond N. Duecker

SFC (Ret.) Raymond N. Duecker, 79, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at his residence. Graveside funeral services for Sgt. Duecker will be held Saturday, January 23, at 11:00 AM, at Upson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim South officiating. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Friday, January 22, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Sgt. Duecker was born on September 17, 1941, in Meyersdale, PA, to the late Leroy Duecker and Grace Wyard Duecker. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1959 - 1979, including a tour of duty in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star. Following his military retirement, he was employed by and retired from the GA Department of Corrections. He had also been employed by Martha Mills, Home Depot, and Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Sgt. Duecker was a Captain of the Northside Volunteer Fire Department and a Red Cross Instructor. He enjoyed horseback riding and traveling. Sgt. Duecker was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Carol Angel Duecker of Thomaston; a daughter, Stacey Duecker Logue of Macon, two sons: Scott (Jill) Duecker of Thomaston and Terry Duecker of PA; a sister: Sara Jane Hittie of Berlin, PA; and three grandchildren: Drew Duecker and Erik (Erin) Logue, both of Thomaston; Jessica Nicholson of PA; and seven great grandchildren: Payton, Raelynn, Anslee, and Allie Duecker; Elijah Logue, Lily Nicholson and Sophia Nicholson.
