Sue Oglesby Fincher

July 15, 1926 — July 7, 2011

Mrs. Fincher was a resident of Riverside Nursing Care for the past several years where she loved the caregivers and enjoyed playing bingo, her reign as Mrs. Riverside, and helping others. She was born in Greenville, GA, in Meriwether County, but lived most in Molena, GA for most of her life. She married Joe Herman Fincher on January 15, 1945, and they were married for more than 50 years. Though biologically childless, Mrs. Fincher had the love and joy of many children through her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephew, and the Molena children who she helped to raise. A member of Molena Baptist Church for most of her life, she loved tending to the babies, teaching Sunday school, and serving in Bible School. She offered her home to Molena Baptist to use as a parsonage. She never relinquished her role as a faithful servant of the Lord, serving as secretary of the First Baptist Church's Riverside Sunday School Class through the last Sunday of her life. Mrs. Fincher worked for American Mills for 17 years. She later retired from the Playtex Corporation in 1982. She loved her many dogs, the Atlanta Braves, and watching Wheel of Fortune and First Baptist Church services on TV. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bernice O. (Ronnie) Weaver of Thomaston, and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Oglesby of Molena and Sue Oglesby of East Ridge, TN. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephew also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Fincher, her sister, Agnes Presley of Thomaston, and her brothers, Johnny Charles Oglesby of Molena and Alton (Bub) Oglesby of East Ridge, TN.
